Expansion Of Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi, India*

Phase 3A Expansion Works at Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi, India for GMR Group / L+T Construction.

SPA was requested by Woods Bagot to assist in the design and development of the New Delhi Airport Interior Design expansion for GMR / L&T. Recognizing that Airports are now heavily influenced by hospitality, retail, hotel, mixed uses, the design intent is to acknowledge this direction, and away from the hi-tech approach in the past, whilst also responding to the heavy and busy usage of these spaces. Material quality and durability is the top priority, while also responding to the locale of Mughal gardens, the warmer tones of the Red Fort and the creation of micro-climates for differing experiences.

A variety of seating caters for all passenger needs; quiet solo work, social, entertainment, small groups networking. The intent is to slow the passenger down to relax and enjoy the space, and avoid unnecessary rush and potential nervousness of flying.

Interior Design Scope Area: 192,985 Sqm over 4 Levels.

Responsible from Concept Design to Design Development and Interior Design Co-ordination role with Landscape, Art, Wayfinding, Lighting Consultants.

Sept 2019 – April 2021, ongoing
