PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Steve Palmier MAIBC RAIC LEED.AP RIBA has had over 20 years of experience in private practice, nine in Vancouver and fifteen as a qualified RIBA Architect since being elected in 1988. He has worked in the UK for five years, Hong Kong for five, and moved permanently to Vancouver, Canada in 1997. He has been responsible for a variety of schemes ranging from large scale masterplans to small scale interiors. Throughout his career Steve Palmier has enjoyed taking projects through all aspects of building procurement, from client liaison, feasibility study and design, detail design and specification to all aspects of site duties. He has been actively involved in dealing with the building legislation and governmental building procedures for Canada, England, Scotland, Hong Kong and China.
He has also won several awards including a scholarship to study Architecture at the University of Kansas, USA as a student. He has exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh, Scotland and has had work published in various professional journals. Steve has shown his watercolours at the City Art Centre during Hong Kong Fringe '97 and has had a selection published in Pace Interior Architecture magazine.
Steve has also been actively involved in the local community. In 1995 he and a colleague raised HK$40,000 for local charities in Hong Kong and Pakistan by cycling the Karakoram Highway from Kashgar in Xinjaing Province, PRC, to Islamabad, capital of Pakistan. He is also a keen canoe paddler and has served for many years on the Executive board of False Creek Racing Canoe Club and also the Canadian Outrigger Racing Association. Steve regularly competes in endurance marathon outrigger canoe races in the BC and across the Pacific Ocean.
