59, Charlotte Road, London, Great Britain
Warehouse
space

The
structure was originally designed as a warehouse, located in the vicinity
of Old Street Station in London.
The proposal set out to retain the existing building fabric of the
warehouse and to re-energise the development
through minimal intervention.
The
original courtyard, which had been covered over, was re-established
allowing natural light and ventilation
into all the units. The existing masonry construction was to be renovated
and restored, maintaining the original
character of the building while upgrading the life safety systems, the
addition of new elevators, and new
washrooms and kitchenettes to each unit. The courtyard access also allowed
for parking to each unit.
